Food Photography: The Larder on Goosegate.

After photographing The Larder on Goosegate recently, they asked me back to photograph some dishes to add to their new upcoming website. They prepared some beautiful dishes – making it very hard to photograph and not eat! Their new website should be up and running in a few weeks time, so for now here’s a quick peek at a few of the photos from the day…

A Sock Puppet?

More recently I have been faced the problem of what gifts to give friends & family for birthdays & all the other numerous occasions that seem to pop up in the year – Fathers day, Mothers Day, Valentines Day, Wedding Anniversaries, Christmas…the list seems endless. With a bank account like mine at the moment, these occasions come around far too often and all always greeted with slight despair as I try to figure what I can get to fit my budget and their tastes. My answer – make something. Some of you may find this harder to do than others and will inevitably end up presenting a loved one with a home-made sock-puppet. (not a bad present I may add if done properly & new socks are used!). I believe my self made presents have been gratefully received, either that or family and friends have turned into damn good liars in the past year! I think I’ll only be able to get away with this for a year though – there’s a limit to how many pictures people are happy to receive!

The Final piece

I made an illustration of Brighton for an upcoming birthday in the family, here you can see my starting point and the end result. I should mention this actual scene never existed, it is purely fictional. I found a photo of the band stand in Brighton and started to draw adding bits each time I came back to it and this is the final result.

The original illustration.

I started my home made presents at Christmas 2010 – you may remember the scrabble tile picture I made for my sister. Here’s another picture I made for my friend Rachel, an avid traveller who is never in the UK for more than 6 months at a time, I made the map hearts from all the places she’s been and loved in the last few years. Personally this is my favourite picture so far.

And so there you have it, my home made pictures, until I run out of ideas and then I’m onto the homemade sock puppets.

A very special delivery.

Today at 18.10, I became the very proud owner of my very own beautiful business cards. From the moment I held the small business cards in the palm of my hand, I fell in love. The beautiful colours and ¬†brilliantly designed logo – I was in heaven. So I got creative and had a little photo shoot with them this evening – I love them so flippin’ much I couldn’t decide what photos to include and what no to – so here’s a load for you to feast on…….

I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive, huge, gigantic, thank you to my fantastic friend and designer, Lou Andrews. Who has made these beautiful cards possible. Thank you Lou ūüôā

Canvas has arrived!

Just a quick update: The canvas for Kiren¬†& Aj arrived today, very pleased with it. I had it printed with Point 101, first time I’ve ever used them – really great service, I’ll definitely be using them again. But from receiving¬†this canvas I think it’s worth going for the upgraded¬†‘laminated’ canvas – I will next time! Wedding photography Canvas

Engagement Photos – Wollaton Hall, Nottingham with Kiren & AJ.

Engagement and Wedding PhotographyThis weekend I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Kiren & AJ for a canvas they wanted to display at their wedding in August. We decided to take the photos at Wollaton Park in Nottingham and make the most of the great weather we’d been having. However five minutes before I went to leave for Wollaton the rain came! Thankfully it was a passing shower and we had a decent amount of blue sky and sun for the rest of the day. Both Kiren & AJ were brilliant in front of the camera – which made my job even more enjoyable! I got some really great photos of them both, they chose the tree shot for their canvas, which after their wedding will be hung in their house.

Congrats Kiren & AJ and all the best for the wedding!
Here’s a few of my favourites from the day…..

Nothing quite says ‘I Love You’ Like Scrabble.

For Christmas, I made my little sister a picture (of sorts) using scrabble tiles of our nicknames for one another. My sister, Emma being ‘Titch’ and myself being ‘Bear’. I really like the final piece, so I decided to branch out and create some more of these little scrabble pictures. To begin with I have just started with the phrase ‘I Love You’. Soon I will be adding more designs to the collection and hopefully someday, someone will like one enough to buy one.¬†The pictures are handmade to order using original scrabble tiles sourced from various vintage stores. The message is ¬†displayed inside your choice of black or white square box frame. (By the way – I LOVE box frames).

I’m also offering a personalised service as well, to make pieces¬†with special messages on – like the one that started everything off.¬†I’m really keen to know what other messages you might like to see – I already have a few in mind. Please peruse at leisure my online store, which for now is based at folksy.co.uk
